How this resource helps
Rhyme Circle: Listen, Match, Invent gives Pre-K learners a focused route from explicit modeling to supported practice and independent application. A rhyme has the same ending sound, even when its spelling differs. Say each pair naturally, then stretch the ending. Children may answer by speaking, pointing to a yes/no card, or giving a thumbs signal. Adults read every word; printed-word reading is not expected. Accept a playful invented word if its ending genuinely rhymes, then model a real word. Use four prompts per sitting.

Pre-K RF 2(a)
With adult support, recognize and generate spoken rhymes.
Learner directions
Listen to the adult, then speak, point, draw, or act your response. Ask to hear the words or story again.
Teaching suggestions
Model the two examples; use tasks 1–4 as a readiness check. Assign four tasks per practice block, then use the independent exit responses to select a specific reteaching move. For extended writing, supply separate paper. Keep answer pages separate.
