How this resource helps
Develop word reading through meaningful prefixes and derivational suffixes, common Latin-derived endings, multisyllabic decoding and irregular words. This 78-page Grade 3 packet includes 30 four-option multiple-choice diagnostics and 30 actual oral-decoding tasks, five daily targets, teacher scripts, model and blank organizers, word cards, complete keys and an observation rubric. Original isolated-word exercises sample the four NC RF.3.4 subparts; this is not a passage packet or a connected-text fluency assessment. Selected 80-minute core across seven phases; only the designated tasks fit that core. Distribute the remaining bank and individual oral conferences over further sessions. Five daily targets guide practice, not a five-day mastery guarantee. Establish a fresh baseline before modeling a word list. Full choice reasons and actual oral-reading expectations. Record each print-to-said response, cues and whether correction was independent or prompted. Accept established pronunciation variants and distinguish speech production, accent or dialect from decoding. Correct choices, verbal rules or repeating an adult model alone do not establish the four subparts; use N/O for unobserved evidence. The four areas are meaningful affixes, common Latin endings, longer-word decoding and irregular-word reading. Examples sample rather than exhaust English spelling. Use additional locally taught words to check transfer beyond memorized lists. Read directions for access without supplying the target word in an independent check. No certified reading level, passage-comprehension or connected-text fluency claim. All word-list selections, teaching scripts, questions, organizers and explanations are original Saint Pierre exercises. Merriam-Webster entries were consulted for pronunciation variants; no dictionary entries, recordings or screenshots are reproduced. Ordinary words and affixes are not claimed as exclusive property. Single-teacher classroom-use license for original Saint Pierre instructional additions: use with your own students, including a password-protected classroom platform; do not resell or redistribute those additions. Contact support for team licensing. Supplied branding and licensed embedded DejaVu typography retained. No exclusive rights claimed over ordinary words, letter forms, facts, spelling patterns or standard identifiers. Independent NC 2017 alignment for 2026–27; publisher-written targets, no NC DPI endorsement.
