How this resource helps
Help students explain how setting shapes character decisions and how those decisions change the plot, using original stories, causal interaction maps, EOG-style practice, and full teacher support. Students trace setting → choice → plot, explain mechanisms using cited details, write a connected interaction analysis, and test one changed element. Four original narratives include a 744-word anchor read once and reused; an optional mini-drama supports later transfer outside the core lesson. The 80-minute route includes warm-up, reading/think-aloud, guided work, role-based collaboration, fresh independent work, one simultaneous support/enrichment block and exit. Independent organizer contains the final short interaction explanation, not a duplicate essay. Cited constructed reasoning and what-if are performance supplements; MC alone does not establish the full skill. Core students pp. 3–15; conditional pp. 16–17; organizer alternatives pp. 18–21; substitute notes p. 22; optional later drama p. 23; teacher-only pp. 24–39. Aligned to exact RL.7.3 wording and clarification in the uploaded 2017 NC Grade 7 document. Original EOG-style practice is informed by official-source research, not endorsed or an exact test replica. The 2017 North Carolina standards apply in 2026–27. Not endorsed by NCDPI. Pacing is a planning estimate, not classroom-tested. No formal readability, accessibility or DOK certification; no guaranteed scores. RL.7.3 only; optional later drama does not imply genre-wide mastery. PDF only, no PowerPoint. PDF ONLY; no PowerPoint included.
