How this resource helps
Our Everyday Manners is a complete social skills lesson for preschool through first grade, built for projection and direct instruction. The lesson is organized in three everyday settings — at the table, out and about, and in the bathroom — so young learners connect each skill to real life. Students practice kind words like please, thank you, and excuse me; learn table routines such as washing hands, using a napkin, taking small bites, and passing food; talk about family mealtime and helping at home; rehearse restaurant and public behavior like staying with a grown-up and ordering politely; and walk through bathroom privacy and a 20-second hand-washing routine. An Our Pretend Café role-play gives children a low-pressure way to practice. Every slide carries complete speaker-note guidance — modeled language, discussion prompts, and what to listen for — so the lesson is ready to teach. Suggested pacing: three 20–30 minute sessions, or one longer lesson; local pacing varies.
