How this resource helps

This complete 80-minute RL.7.3 lesson pack gives Grade 7 teachers everything needed for a full class period no prep required. Students move from teacher-modeled instruction through three original fiction and drama passages, using evidence to show how characters, settings, and plot events push and change each other. The lesson opens with a clear lesson map so students know exactly where they are headed. Five crisp definitions build academic vocabulary before any reading begins. A teacher-modeled example walks the class through one interaction before students try it independently. Three original passages (two fiction, one drama script) are paired with task cards that ask students to trace specific interactions with textual evidence. A mixed practice multiple-choice section closes the lesson, followed by a five-question exit ticket. Answer key explanations are built into Slide 24 no separate document to manage. The exit ticket doubles as a quick formative check. All slides are fully editable in PowerPoint so you can adjust timing, add your school's name, or differentiate for your learners. Standard: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.7.3 | NC ELED.RL.7.3 Grade: 7 | Subject: Reading Literature No outside novel or textbook required all passages are original.
